TuneView | How It Works
To use TuneView to remotely manage your iTunes library, install iTunes and the Keyspan TuneView software, connect the TuneView USB transceiver, and start using the remote.
The USB transceiver and remote communicate with each other via a 2.4 Ghz radio frequency (RF) signal at distances of 150 feet or more. *
As you press buttons on the remote, the USB transceiver queries the iTunes library each time that information is needed and transmits this data to the remote. With the color LCD screen and the ten buttons provided on the remote you can quickly and easily browse iTunes as if it were in your hands.
To obtain the best performance on the remote...
Within 75 feet of the USB transceiver you will typically find that the RF signal between the USB transceiver and the remote is strong (even when the signal is passing through 1-3 residential walls). In this area it will not matter which direction you are facing when using the TuneView remote. Beyond 75 feet, if the signal is passing through 1 or more walls, you may find that you need to point the TuneView remote in the general direction of the TuneView USB transceiver in order to obtain good performance.
* Range of 150 feet or more is obtained in open space.
TuneView | Connecting your PC or Mac to your Stereo
TuneView provides a great way to control iTunes running on a PC or Mac. To enjoy iTunes content throughout your house, you'll want to connect your PC or Mac to a stereo system (or whole house audio system).
There are wired and wireless ways to make the connection. Wired connections can be less expensive and provide higher fidelity -- but can be inconvenient to install (since cables need to be run from the computer to the stereo). Wireless solutions can cost more and are more prone to interference, but are easy to install since they eliminate the need to run cabling.
Our recommended solutions include:
Direct connection: The Griffin iMic USB audio adaptor will give you stunning audio out for your stereo. Simply connect the mini jack of the iMic to your stereo with a direct cable.
Wireless Connections: These solutions receive streaming iTunes content from the PC/Mac via Wi-Fi and feed the audio to your stereo using standard audio cables.
Apple AirPort Express PC or Mac
Linksys Wireless -G Music Bridge PC
Wired Connections These solutions connect to the USB port on your PC and to audio-in jacks on your stereo receiver. They each feature a digital-to-audio converter ("DAC") that provides enhanced audio fidelity.
